Herbie falling fast

Tenby 5 Herbrandston 1 HERBRANDSTON will be nervously looking over their shoulders after this 5-1 thumping at the hands of Tenby.

After sitting in mid-table for much of the season, Herbie are now falling dangerously towards the relegation zone and this heavy defeat will do nothing to improve confidence.

But while Herbie fall, Tenby are on the rise after two successive wins. And Mike Beynon was the hero with a fabulous hat-trick that secured Tenby's third win of the season.

But it was the visitors who had snatched an early advantage through Leigh Galdo.

Mike Turpin's cross was well finished at the near post and Herbie were ahead in the 14th minute.

That could have seen Tenby collapse, but they upped the work-rate and pressed Herbrandston for every ball.

And 1-0 down became 3-1 up at the break. Mike Lindsay's cross was met powerfully by Jimmy Thomas to head in the equaliser.

Beynon's first of the afternoon owed much to the work of Anthony Griffiths but the striker's finish was calm and composed from the edge of the area.

And just before half-time Beynon bagged his second and his side's third. Mark James and Phil Catlin combined and Beynon was left with a simple tap-in from close range.

The one-way traffic continued in the second-period and Beynon wrapped up his hat-trick within five minutes of the re-start.

His drilled finish into the bottom corner rounding off a fine individual performance from the striker.

Herbie fought hard but there was no way back into the game. And with two minutes to go Tenby broke and sub Bobby Briers slotted home the fifth.
