Wasps win well against Aber

From the Milford Mercury, first published Thursday 28th Apr 2005.

Llangwm 26 Aberaeron 20 THE Wasps came out on top in an entertaining league tussle against Aberaeron at Pill Parks.

Llangwm had already won 10-8 when the teams had previously met and this encounter looked likely to go the other way as the visitors led 17-12 at the break.

Aberaeron skipper Iwan Thomas crossed from his centre berth alongside full back Rhys ap Dylan as outside half Dylan Evans landed both conversions and a penalty before the interval.

The visitors could only muster another Evans' penalty after the interval as Llangwm fought back.

Centre David Matthews and replacement prop Darren Jones grabbed the Wasps' first-half tries, with outside half Robbie Neill landing a conversion. Matthews added a second try after the interval as Andrew Phillips also claimed a try and Neill kicked both conversions to seal the victory.

Llangwm: Graham Badham: JoJo Francis; Greg McCann; David Matthews; Dai Thomas: Carl Rees; Robbie Neill: Richard Scriven; Johnnie James; Gareth Bevan: Hamish Nicholls; Anthony Davies: Will Scale; Mike Wonnacott; Andrew Phillips. Replacements: Steve Walters; Darren Jones.
