Llangwm (195 for 7) beat Whitland (192 for 6)
Umpires: Ray Kane and Fred Hatton Scorers: Jeff Saies and Robert Webb
Darren Brick was the toast of his Llangwm colleagues as he struck a four and six in the last over against Whitland at Pill Parks to secure a tense victory after almost 400 runs had been scored - and leave Whitland with little to show for a match where they had played a full part in creating entertainment aplenty for the crowd.
Put in to bat, Whitland found themselves at 7 for 2 before Dave Lee and Paul Davies put on 99 runs, Davies finally caught at deep mid-wicket with six fours and three sixes in his fine 57. Lee also drove well in his 56 and there little flurries from Daniel Griffiths and Matthew `Titch' Davies took Whitland to a big total despite wicket braces by Brick and Andrew Phillips.
Llangwm lost Ian Gow, run out for 12 with the score on 26 but fellow opener George Thomas maintained his good form with a splendid 64 that included six fours and two sixes as Whitland kept plugging away.
Mark Davies took over the anchor role as Henry Thomas followed younger brother George by rapping a quick-fire 39 that included four big sixes but then Whitland skipper Paul Webb grabbed two wickets in the over where Thomas was run out, to set up a tense finish.
But Brick decided that attack was the way forward and he blasted a four and then a six to take his side home with just two balls to spare in a cracking game of cricket.
